In a positive development for the drone industry, DJI has announced that the Indemnnis Nexus parachute system for the DJI Inspire 2 drone has been validated with the new international standard for drone parachutes.

The announcement is an important step in opening up new possibilities and opportunities for professional drone pilots.

The Nexus, by Indemnis, is a drone parachute recovery system designed to help allow drone flights over people. The ballistic-based Nexus is trigerred automatically if the drone “suddenly begins tilting abnormally or falling”.

Here is a video of the Nexus in action:

According the Indemnis website, the Nexus is “the first UAV recovery system to be proven reliable in any failure situation” and is “designed to meet and exceed FAA standards for flight over people”.

Indemnis, the leader in developing and manufacturing parachute recovery systems for drones, has spent thousands of hours developing and testing its technology. The result is an offering that is currently unmatched in the market.

The Nexus works on the DJI Inspire 2 and will be available for the DJI M200, DJI M210 and M600 in late 2019.

The Nexus will be available for distribution through select DJI enterprise retailers.

Further information about the Nexus can be found here.
